Hi all. I have a research paper for english and our teacher wants us to evaluate one of the articles we will be using to write the paper. So i was wondering how do you write an evaluation on an article. Basically i want to know what stuff has to be included and what the format needs to be. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

U could talk about what's good or bad about it and discuss certain themes. Different teachers have different expectations for evaluating articles. If I were u, I would ask your teacher what he or she expects.

The first thing to do is to find out what type of evaluation it is that your professor expects from you. I often just email the professor and ask what the format of the evaluation is.

Honestly, the best format is the one your professor expects, so follow that and you should be all right.

The other thing you can do is to start looking at short reviews, or evaluations of articles in academic journals. But, I would just get as much info from the professor before the writing process is started.

I agree with the last two poster, and also consider the following when evaluating the article: Is this article a credible source to be used for your research? (Did this article come from an academic journal, a newspaper, or an editorial from a magazine?) Is this article related to the topics that your assigned to research about? Does this article have pro's and con's informing you about your topic? What type of article is this? Is it a book review, an article based on a scientific research, or an article that came from a plain web site about your topic? Think about some other questions that relates to your article before you start evaluating it. I would suggest creating an outline or bullet points while you are writing your evaluation make sure to organize your information while writing your evaluation. I hope it helps.
